It is the rare instance where a fighter is raplaced on a MMA fight card due to non-injury reasons, yet that is what happened on Tuesday.
The UFC announced on Tuesday (today) that Brad Tavares will replace Jason “Mayhem” Miller in a middleweight bout at UFC 132. Miller was chosen to be a coach during Season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter, hence the change in combatants. Tavares will face Aaron Simpson as a result of the change.
UFC 132 will take place on July 2 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV, headlined by a bantamweight title bout pitting Dominick Cruz against Urijah Faber.
Tavares, a former TUF contestant, made his UFC debut in June 2010 and earned a unanimous decision win over fellow TUF castmate Seth Baczynski. On January 1, he defeated Phil Baroni via KO at UFC 125.
Simpson, on the other hand, sports a 9-2 record and began his career with eight straight wins before getting stopped by Chris Leben in June 2010. After losing a decision to Mark Munoz in November 2010, he turned things around with a unanimous decision victory over Mario Miranda at UFC Fight Night 24.
