Brazilian light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado has signed with the UFC and will replace Tom Blackledge in a preliminary matchup against James McSweeney at “UFC 120: Bisping vs. Akiyama” on Oct. 16 in London, Sherdog reports.
Maldonago (17-3), who trains with the likes of Anderson Silva and the Nogueiras, brings a 10-fight win streak into his UFC debut, including a 40-second KO in June for his 14th stoppage in 17 victories.
A castmember on The Ultimate Fighter 10, McSweeney (4-5) debuted with a TKO of Darrill Schoonover in December at the TUF 10 Finale, but suffered a first-round TKO to Travis Browne in his last fight in June to fall below .500.
The UFC 120 fight card is headlined by Michael Bisping vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama and also includes Dan Hardy vs. Carlos Condit and John Hathaway vs. Mike Pyle
