UFC on Versus 2 Play-by-Play Updates
TYSON GRIFFIN VS. TAKANORI GOMI
Round 1 – Griffin connects first as Gomi moves forward, then Gomi lands a punch to the body. Griffin and Gomi trade some more punches, then Gomi drops him with a right. Griffin attempts to stand but Gomi jumps on top and the fight is stopped.

Griffin protests the stoppage, but replays show him wobbling as he returned to his feet.
JOHN HOWARD VS. JAKE ELLENBERGER
Round 1 – Ellenberger rushes forward with punches after touching gloves, but gets caught and backs off. Ellenberger presses Howard again the fence in the clinch and Ellenberger connects with some knees as they fight for position. They trade knees before being restarted. Howard moves forward with punches, then Ellenberger gets a takedown into guard. Ellenberger connects with some punches and elbows, but Howard limits the damage. The action stalls and they’re restarted on their feet. Howard connects with some leg kick, but Ellenberger counters with a punch, then scores another takedown into half guard. Ellenberger gets free for some more ground and pound before the round ends. MMAFrenzy.com scores the round for Ellenberger 10-9.
Round 2 – Howard stuns Ellenberger with a head kick early in the seconds, then eats a punch forcing him to get a takedown into half guard. Ellenberger drops elbows and punches from the top, then Howard gets back to full guard and controls Ellenberger briefly before he breaks free for more ground and pound. Howard tries to escape, but gives up his back before getting back to guard. More ground and pound by Ellenberger, as Howard’s eye begins to swell. Howard explodes to his feet and tags Ellenberger again, but is quickly taken back down. Howard’s eye is nearly swollen shut and Ellenberger lands more elbows from top to finish the round. Round 3 – Howard throws wild punches to start the third, then looks for a takedown, but Ellenberger stuffs it. Howard stalks forward, but is unable to find his range with his eye swollen. Ellenberger gets a powerful takedown and goes to work with more ground and pound, but is stood up after the action slows. A doctor is called in to check Howard’s eye and the bout is stopped.

MARK MUNOZ VS. YUSHIN OKAMI
Round 1 – “Big” John McCarthy refereeing tonight’s c0-headliner. Okami controls the center of the cage after touching gloves, but both fighters are tentative before Munoz finally lunges forward with a punch. Punches from both fighters fail to connect, then Okami lands and forces Munoz to keep his back against the fence. Okami unloads a punch in a rare opening, then Munoz shoots but Okami stays on his feet and Munoz stands. Okami connects again, then Munoz briefly gets Okami down but they quickly scramble to their feet and into the clinch. Okami and Munoz unload punches as they separate. Munoz tries for another takedown late, but Okami sprawls until the end of the round. MMAFrenzy.com scores the round for Okami 10-9.
Round 2 – Okami opens with a combo, then stuffs another takedown before dodging wild punches from Munoz as they stand. Okami connects with a combo as he gets into the clinch, but Munoz quickly separates. Munoz stuns Okami, but he quickly recovers and gets a takedown. Munoz connects again as Okami scrambles back to his feet and keeps up the pressure with more punches, but Okami weathers the storm and stops another takedown. Munoz continues to press for a takedown for the rest of the round, but Okami fends hum off. MMAFrenzy.com scores the round for Munoz 10-9, evening it up at 19-19.
Round 3 – Munoz begins the third looking for another takedown, but Okami sprawls then unleashes some punches. Munoz shoots again, but Okami stays on his feet and unloads more punches with Munoz against the fence. Okami knocks Munoz down with a punch and jumps on top, but there’s little action before Munoz scrambles back to his feet. Okami controls the center of the Octagon and connects with more punches, forcing Munoz to try for another takedown but it’s stopped again. Okami controls Munoz and connects with more punches as the fight comes to an end. MMAFrenzy.com scores the third for Okami 10-9, giving him the fight 29-28.

JON JONES VS. VLADIMIR MATYUSHENKO
Round 1 – Jones has a massive reach advantage and starts the round with a low stance. Matyshenko begins the action with jabs, then Jones connects with a leg kick. Jones lands a spinning back kick, then trips Matyushenko to the ground. Matyushenko threatens an armbar, but Jones escapes to side control, gets a mounted crucifix, and unloads powerful elbows to earn a quick TKO.
