During last night’s UFC 118 post-fight press conference, company president Dana white announced 15,575 crazed MMA fans packed TD Garden in Boston, generating a cool $3 million at the gate.

Celebrities like Shaquille O’Neal, Tom Brady and several others were in attendance to see the Octagon debut of boxing champion James Toney, as well as the official coming out party for Frankie Edgar, the planet’s undeniable top dog.

The UFC lightweight champion successfully defended his title against former king BJ Penn in the night’s main event. For their second straight meeting, Edgar took home a lopsided unanimous decision victory. This time, it was to the tune of 50-45 on all three scorecards.

In back-to-back outings, “The Answer” has used his superior boxing and movement to utterly confuse Penn. Although, he went back to his roots last night and threw in some wrestling just to mix things up.

According to MMAJunkie, UFC 118 ranks seventh among gate revenue for 2010 Octagon events.
