Dan HendersonDan Henderson and Fedor Emelianenko completed their current contracts with Strikeforce on Saturday as the light heavyweight champion Henderson handed the former top-ranked heavyweight Emelianenko his third-straight loss, but the promotion hopes to see both fighters return to their cage.

“As far as fighting in Strikeforce, I hope we have them both back,” Coker told MMAFighting.

However, their returns to Strikeforce are far from guaranteed, as Henderson and Emelianenko made a combined $2.3 million for the matchup and would likely need to take significant pay cuts now that Strikeforce is owned by the UFC.

Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” event earned a $638,000 live gate from 8,311 fans at the Sears Centre Arena outside Chicago.

Whether Emelianenko will even fight again remains to be seen, as “The Last Emperor’s” first-round TKO to Henderson followed upset losses to Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Fabricio Werdum. Fedor’s M-1 Global management could also be an issue in negotiations, as the UFC refused their demands to co-promote Fedor’s fights during negotiations in 2009 and will likely now make Strikeforce do the same.
