Stock markets plunged today 8.8.2011

Last week and today’s stock market activity does remind me of 2008 when the markets plunged dramatically from the housing crisis.  The numbers recap is below:

Dow           10,810        -635       -5.55%
Nasdaq        2,358        -175       -6.90%
S&P 500      1,119         -80       -6.66%
GlobalDow   1,815         -91        -4.79%
Gold               1,720       +68        +4.11%
Oil                   80.36       -6.52      -7.51%

If you have to ask if the economy is doing better now than 3 years ago, then you know it is not.  The ratings do matter, but everyone can see how things are really are in the economy.   The media tries to sugarcoat everything and make it seem like there are no problems.  They downplay the unemployment figures and foreclosure numbers.  Everyday there are more people losing jobs then getting them and the homeless population continues to rise.
