Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” event averaged 571,000 viewers on Showtime and peaked at 778,000 for the night’s main event between Dan Henderson and Fedor Emelianenko.

The event now ranks fourth in Strikeforce’s history, which is topped by Fedor’s January fight against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva that averaged 741,000 viewers and peaked with 1.1 million.

Hederson handed Emelianenko his third-straight loss with a first-round TKO in the main event. The fighters combined to make $2.3 million, while the event drew 8,311 fans to the Sears Centre Arena outside Chicago for a $638,000 live gate.

Meanwhile, Fedor’s younger brother and fellow fighter Aleksander Emelianenko blamed his trainers for the loss to Henderson, which has pushed the former top-ranked heavyweight closer to retirement.

“They were asked direct questions and would say, ‘It is difficult to say… we will see in the fight,’” Aleksander told LifeSports.ru (via FightersOnly). “What kind of a coach says that? Only one who doesn’t understand the sport. I just call them ‘Stopwatch’ and  ‘Towel’. That’s as much use as they are, that’s it.

“[MMA] is constantly improving, but ‘Stopwatch’ and ‘Towel’ have not changed anything in the program – just frozen in time and not been able to develop the base that Fedor already has. Fedor could train himself, he must take on it personally, to rethink many of the training points to learn and develop.”
