Antonio “Big Foot” Silva Now Meets Mike Kyle at “Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II”

Antonio “Big Foot” Silva Now Meets Mike Kyle at “Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II”

Strikeforce Heavyweight Antonio Big Foot Silva

Just two days after Valentijn Overeem was forced to pull out of his heavyweight battle against Antonio Silva at “Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II,” it appears Mike Kyle has agreed to step in on less than five days notice to make this Saturday’s date.

Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting was the first to tweet Kyle’s last-minute substitute status, however multiple outlets have since confirmed the move.

Silva holds an impressive 14-2 record and has won seven of his last eight scraps, including a lopsided decision over former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski this past May.

Kyle owns a respectable 18-7-1 professional mark and was last seen handing Stephen Oliver a TKO loss at “Xtreme MMA 3.” He’s currently riding a five-fight winning streak.

Overeem – no, not that one – was forced off the card over the weekend with an elbow injury.

Silva and Overeem had been promoted to the night’s co-main event after Herschel Walker was forced off with an eye laceration. No word on whether “Big Foot” vs. “MAK” will still warrant second-to-last billing in Strikeforce’s end of the year bash.

The event takes place inside the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Showtime will broadcast the main bouts beginning at 10PM ET/PT.

Here is Saturday’s revised roster:

Preliminary Bouts:

Ben Brown vs. J.W. Wright
Lee Brousseau vs. Mike Glenn
Fernando Bettega vs. Wayne Phillips
Justin Lawrence vs. Max Martytniouk
Terrell Brown vs. Patrick Cummins

Main Bouts:

Scott Carson vs. TBD
Robbie Lawler vs. Matt Lindland
Scott Smith vs. Paul Daley
Antonio “Big Foot’’ Silva vs. Mike Kyle
Renato “Babalu” Sobral vs. Dan Henderson (Light Heavyweight Bout)
