UFC is boring, MMA and K-1

UFC is boring, MMA and K-1

I noticed this month there are a lot of mma events. The last few UFCs I watched were quite boring. This month they have UFC 120 and 121 spread out just one week apart. The same thing for November for UFC 122 and 123. Isn’t it weird that they are just spread out one week apart too. The only good thing is one of the events each month are free.

I have caught a few fights on their smaller free promotion WEC and have to say they have been more entertaining lately. On top of that they are free to watch on regular TV. They are lighter weight fighters but they are more active through out all the rounds.  Bellator Fighting championships on Fox is great too.  Both promotions seem to have much more active fighters mixing it up and seem to have more knockouts and submissions.

On a side note, all those events above are free on cable TV with the exception of the UFC ppv event.  I think the defunct organizations IFL, Affliction, etc., have actually paved the way to all these free shows that we now enjoy.

I think one of the things making UFC boring is that it is getting away from true mma. It is becoming more dominated by wrestling athletes who ground and pound and/or looking to get the decision. Judges seem to give takedowns more weight in decisions too. That is why I was interested in watching straight kickboxing in the Japanese production of K-1. Check out the youtube video of a fight last night.
