Quinton “Rampage” Jackson: Jon Jones Can’t Bust a Grape
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has faced many superstars throughout his MMA career. Sometimes he came up short and face planted through the ring ropes, like he did after eating several knees from Wanderlei Silva at Pride 28, while other times he was on the distributing end of a highlight reel knockout, as when he returned the favor at UFC 92 and put Wandy to sleep.
Rampage challenges reigning light heavyweight champ Jon Jones for his title at UFC 135. Although he has tangoed with some of the sport’s most spectacular specimens, Jones is perhaps the most athletic and dynamic 205-pounder the division has ever seen.
In preparation for their September 24th scrap, Rampage has moved his training camp to the Muscle Pharm facility in Denver, Colorado. Wait up, I’m sorry. Did I say “moved?” I meant moved in.
The 33-year-old is literally living and sleeping in the high altitude gym, which is located in the same city that will host next month’s shootout, to ensure he’ll be ready when the curtain is drawn inside the Pepsi Center.
“This guy has never been tested, he’s never been hit,” Rampage said of Jones. “I ain’t worried about his height, his reach. I ain’t worried about none of that. The guy can’t bust a grape. I ain’t worried about his crazy spinning elbow moves … We’ve done broke this guy down.”

Redfin for android video
Redfin is one of my favorite sites to visit to get information on real estate. It is well organized and includes pictures and previous sales history. This is good for researching the values of homes. There is also a nice search function that allows you to look at recent closed sales aka comps.
Now, I can view the houses and condos on my LG Optimus V android phone anytime. You can see how I have used redfin on this old blog post Pomona Lofts for less than $100,000. There is another post of my experience of looking out for prices Condo Shopping by Email.

Ron Paul: Super Congress video
by Ron Paul
The Super Congress created by the recent debt ceiling increase deal is a typical example of something nefarious attached to a bigger bill that is rushed through Congress without giving Members ample opportunity to consider the full ramifications. This commission may turn into an early Christmas present for the well-heeled lobbyists of K Street. This is because the commission presents a huge opportunity for lobbying firms to sneak their client’s pet projects and issues into whatever legislation is created by the commission. The fact that automatic cuts to defense are named if the committee deadlocks simply signals to the military industrial complex to bring their A game to the lobbying effort.
One red flag I am constantly aware of in my position as a Congressman is that highly complex and convoluted legislation frequently has dangerous provisions hidden in the fine print. Elaborate legislative packages force lawmakers to take the bad with the good, and often if they refuse, they are accused of voting against the positive provision – never mind the blatant Constitutional violations in the bill, the spending, the waste, and the unchecked expansion of government. I don’t usually have to read too much of a bill like that before encountering something unconstitutional, or simply unwise. Then I have to vote no.
That doesn’t seem to be the case with a majority of legislators, unfortunately. In order to ram through one special interest’s favorable treatment or giveaway, a certain amount of horse-trading is done. The end result is mammoth bills with myriads of unrelated provisions that favor those with the best lobbyists at the expense of everyone else.
The creation of a 12 member committee to preside over $1.5 trillion in spending decisions, and the exclusion of the rest of Congress also means lobbying firms can focus their efforts on an anointed few, which is certainly more manageable for them than having to deal with the entire Congress. Every cut considered will, of course, have a recipient on the other end whose livelihood is being threatened. The probable outcome is that any cuts realized will be more a function of lobbying prowess than the merits or demerits of the actual programs on the chopping block.
Make no mistake – I am enthusiastically for cutting government spending. The goal should be to eventually reduce government down to the size and scope of its constitutional limitations. However, the process of getting there must also be constitutional. Concentrating such special authority to fast track legislation affecting so many special interests to a small, select committee is nothing more than an unprecedented power grab. Only fears of an impending catastrophe could have motivated Members to allow this legislation to be rushed through Congress. The founding fathers had strong feelings about taxation without representation and under no circumstances would they have felt excluding 98% of Congress from fiscal decisions was appropriate.
I see nothing good coming out of this Super Congress. I suspect it will be highly vulnerable to corruption and special interests. No benefit can come from such careless disregard of the Founders’ design.

UFC 133 Medical Suspensions: Tito Ortiz, Yoshihiro Akiyama Among Seven Sidelined
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission released the UFC 133 medical suspensions on Monday, with headliner Tito Ortiz among seven fighters sidelined from Saturday night's pay-per-view event in Philadelphia. Also suspended were Yoshihiro Akiyama, Dennis Hallman, Mike Pyle, Matt Hamill, Rafael Natal, and Paul Bradley.
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission released the UFC 133 medical suspensions on Monday, with headliner Tito Ortiz among seven fighters sidelined from Saturday night’s pay-per-view event in Philadelphia.
Rafael Natal was the only fighter to be suspended indefinitely after appearing to indicate on the broadcast that he broke his hand in his preliminary card win over Paul Bradley. The PSAC will require Natal to be cleared by specialist before lifting the suspension.
Yoshihiro Akiyama was suspended sixty days for possible head injuries after being knocked out cold by a strike to the back of the head from Vitor Belfort in the first round of the UFC 133 co-main event. Akiyama will need a neurological exam to return to competition.
Featherweight contender Chad Mendes received better news than expected from the PSAC and his doctor. Mendes believed he broke his hand against Rani Yahya on Saturday night, but was not suspended by the PSAC and Tweeted earlier that he only suffered relatively minor damage to his hand and ankle.
Dennis Hallman received a standard 45-day suspension for his TKO loss to Brian Ebersole, but had to be hospitalized on Monday with an apparent infection in his elbow. Hallman reportedly injured the elbow Thursday and had to have it drained before the fight, then Tweeted Monday that he had to be hospitalized to undergo treatment.
The full list of UFC 133 medical suspensions included:
- Tito Ortiz: Suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons
- Yoshihiro Akiyama: Suspended 60 days due to possible head injuries; must have a neurological exam before returning to competition
- Dennis Hallman: Suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons
- Mike Pyle: Suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons
- Matt Hamill: Suspended 45 days for precautionary reasons
- Rafael Natal: Suspended indefinitely due to a right-hand injury; must have hand cleared by a physician before returning to competition
- Paul Bradley: Suspended for 30 days for a left-knee injury; must be cleared by a physician before returning to competition

It may be the fact the Europe is having similar problems with their economy and debt loads and those situations are very ugly. Some of the countries are having riots because things are so bad.
Market Watch:
“The downgrade of U.S. debt is clearly the catalyst for today’s move, but not the reason. The downgrade simply highlights the United States has problems, which will take time to get resolved,” said Michael Sheldon, chief market strategist at RDM Financial.
Friday’s trade looked as though investors were rotating into defensive sectors, while “today is more about moving to the sidelines and reassessing,” Sheldon added.
Announced Friday night, the S&P decision followed an especially nasty week for equities, heightening the chances of “a very bad initial reaction,” wrote analysts at Barclays Capital in a Monday note.
On Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA -4.14% fell as much as 385 points, and was lately down 313.86 points, or 2.8%, at 11,128.78.
Twenty-nine of the Dow’s 30 components slid, led by Bank of America Corp. BAC -19.34% , down 16%. The New York Times reported American International Group Inc. AIG -10.96% plans to sue Bank of America in a bid to recoup more than $10 billion in losses on mortgage-backed securities.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index SPX -5.38% declined 43.66 points, or 2.8%, to 1,155.72, with financial companies hardest hit among its 10 industry groups. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index COMP -5.58% lapsed 96.32 points, or 3.8%, to 2,436.16.
For every stock rising, nearly 35 fell on the New York Stock Exchange, where nearly 1.1 billion shares traded as of 1 p.m. Eastern.
The U.S. dollar DXY +0.39% gained against most of its currency rivals and U.S. Treasury prices rallied, with yields on the benchmark 10-year note 10_YEAR -8.07% down to 2.364%.
“This country has a debt problem, but it is manageable,” said Kevin Giddis, a fixed-income analyst at Morgan Keegan. “This country has a political division problem, but it is fixable. This country has an economic problem, which can only be fixed with jobs, not government liquidity, and that is the one that worries me the most.”
Gold futures GC1Z +4.17% topped $1,718 an ounce and crude-oil futures CL1U -5.46% dropped $3.48 to $83.40 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Read more about gold topping $1.700 level.

UFC 133 Attendance and Bonuses: Evans, Ortiz, Belfort, and Ebersole Earn $70K Bonuses
Following Saturday night's UFC 133 event, UFC President Dana White reported an attendance of 11,583 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia for a live gate of $1.5 million gate. White also announced that Rashad Evans, Tito Ortiz, Vitor Belfort and Brian Ebersole each earned $70,000 bonuses for their respective efforts on the UFC 133 card.
Following Saturday night’s UFC 133 event, UFC President Dana White reported an attendance of 11,583 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia for a live gate of $1.5 million gate.
White also announced that Rashad Evans, Tito Ortiz, Vitor Belfort and Brian Ebersole each earned $70,000 bonuses for their respective efforts on the UFC 133 card.
Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans earned “Fight of the Night” for their exciting two round battle. Returning from a 14-month layoff, Evans controlled the majority of the fight with aggressive striking and strong wrestling and his speed proved too much for the former champion Ortiz, who was unable to slow down the former Michigan State wrestler.
Vitor Belfort earned “Knockout of the Night” for his first-round stoppage of fellow middleweight Yoshihiro Akiyama. While the two took their time feeling each other out early, a missed front kick from Akiyama triggered an explosion from Belfort, who dropped the Japanese fighter with a flurry of strikes.
With no “Submission of the Night” to award, White gave Brian Ebersole a “thanks for getting those horrifying shorts off tv as soon as possible” bonus for his win over Speedo-wearing veteran Dennis Hallman.
