Controversy Surrounds Gina Carano’s “Revoked Medical Clearanceâ€
During Tuesday’s “Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum†media call, company CEO Scott Coker announced Gina Carano’s eagerly anticipated return would be delayed after her medical clearance was revoked. “Conviction†was set to take center stage inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on June 18th.
“I know that she’s really disappointed,†Coker stated. “It’s an unfortunate situation, but we have no further information at this time.â€
Thankfully, SI.com was able to get in contact with the public information officer for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. According to Susan Stanford, Carano’s contestant application, which included a physician’s exam, an ophthalmologic screening and required blood test results, had already been approved.
