A matchup between welterweight contenders Paul Daley and Tyron Woodley is in the works for “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” on July 30 near Chicago, MMAjunkie reports.
It is not yet known whether the welterweight title vacated by Nick Diaz will be on the line in the Showtime-televised bout.
Daley (27-10-2) lost original opponent Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos to an injury on Friday as “Semtex” looks to rebound from an April loss to Diaz, while Woodley (8-0) remained unbeaten with a unanimous decision over Tarec Saffiedine in January.
Meanwhile, former Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal has been pulled from the “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” card after Roger Gracie was forced out of their matchup and will instead return to action at a Sept. 10 Strikeforce event possibly against Gracie, according to MMA Weekly.
The lineup changes come on the heels of news that middleweight contenders Tim Kennedy and Robbie Lawler would meet on the July 30 Showtime card.
