Pettis (13-1) capped off a win over Ben Henderson last month with an off-the-cage kick to earn a shot at the UFC belt, but has opted to face Guida first after UFC champ Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard fought to a draw at UFC 125 on New Year’s Day and rematch at UFC 130 on May 28.
Guida (28-11) earned the “Submission of the Night” at UFC 125 over Takanori Gomi for his third-straight win.
