Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira has been forced to withdraw from his middleweight bout with Rousimar Palhares at UFC on Versus 3 on March 3 following the recent floods that struck his native Brazil.
According to Fighters Only, Ferreira lost friends and family in the disaster, which has topped 700 deaths, that has left him in “no condition to train or fight”.
Ferreira (18-7) dropped his UFC debut to Vladimir Matyushenko in November and was to make his middleweight debut against Palhares (11-3), who was knocked out by Nate Marquardt in September after three-straight wins.
It is not yet known who Palhares could draw as a replacement or if he’ll be shifted to another upcoming event.
UFC on Versus 3 is headlined by Martin Kampmann vs. Diego Sanchez.
