UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and middleweight title-holder Anderson Silva could square off sooner rather than later, as UFC President Dana White recently told 790 The Ticket in Miami (via Sports Radio Interviews) that fan interest will likely prompt him to book the champion vs. champion matchup.
“I believe my job is to put on fights that people want to see,” White said. “I keep hearing [requests for St-Pierre vs. Silva] and if enough people want to see it, I guess I’m gonna have to do it.”
St-Pierre will rematch Josh Koscheck following The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale in December, while Silva takes on Chael Sonnen on August 7 in the main event of UFC 117.
