Tyron Woodley has agreed to play substitute on July 30th to face Paul Daley in a critical welterweight showdown at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson.” The company announced the scrap via Twitter late Saturday night.
Daley has won four of his last five contests, but was TKO’d by former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz in April. The controversial slugger owns a respectable 27-10-2 record, with 20 of his victories coming via some form of knockout.
Woodley, on the other hand, will look to utilize his Division I wrestling skills against the Brit. The 29-year-old holds an immaculate 8-0 resume.
Daley was originally penciled in to fight Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, but the Brazilian was forced to pull out last week with a shoulder injury.
The company did not mention whether Diaz’s recently vacated 170-pound crown would be on the line. Regardless, this contest will surely have some sort of title implications attached.
“Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” takes place inside the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Here are the athletes expected to appear in the star-studded show:
