Heavyweight veteran Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic is ready to return to UFC action in February after recovering from a last-minute knockout to Frank Mir in September that ended their lackluster UFC 119 headliner.
“Finally, I should be okay now,” Cro Cop said in a video on his official website. “I invested a lot in training and therapy and I think 2011 will be my year, better than 2006 [when he won PRIDE's open weight grand prix with wins over Wanderlei Silva and Josh Barnett].
“I have two options for February. Which one it will be I don’t know, but for sure I will be fighting that month.”
The UFC’s February schedule includes the nearly-complete “UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort” on Feb. 5 in Las Vegas, as well as “UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch” on Feb. 27 in Sydney, Australia.
After earning a win on the UFC’s Australian debut in February, Cro Cop (27-8-2) would likely land on the UFC 127 fight card or could wait for March’s UFC on Versus 3, UFC 128, or UFC Fight Night 24.
