Dan Hardy’s UFC Release Not Set After Third-Straight Loss, Wants Chris Lytle Next

Despite suffering his third-straight loss to Anthony Johnson at UFC Fight Night 24, former welterweight title challenger Dan Hardy could get another chance in the UFC and hopes to face Chris Lytle if he does.

“I want to fight again,” Hardy wrote on Twitter. “I feel like Ive been robbed of the reward at the end of training camp. An oldschool shootout with a guy that wants to throw down. Screw the rankings, records are for DJs. Win in a blaze of glory or go out on my shield. Someone like Mr Lytle.”

Johnson controlled Hardy for a unanimous decision win at Saturday’s event, but UFC President Dana White said it didn’t guarantee the welterweight slugger would be released following previous losses to champion Georges St-Pierre and contender Carlos Condit.

“Not necessarily. We’ll have to wait and see. I [expletive] love that kid,” White said.

Lytle considered retirement after undergoing knee surgery just four weeks before newcomer Brian Ebersole snapped his four-fight win at UFC 127 in February, but is now expected to eventually return to the Octagon.
