Robbie Lawler Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension with Strikeforce

UFC Strikeforce Robbie Lawler

Uncle Sam sure can’t blame Strikeforce for contributing to the nation’s baffling unemployment rates. One day after re-signing its welterweight champion, the organization announced Robbie Lawler has also inked a multi-year deal to remain with the San Jose, California-based promotion.

“Strikeforce has treated me good and I am happy to re-sign with them,” said Lawler. “They have given me an opportunity to fight for the title and I’m looking forward to that and to fighting any and all of the top 185-pounders.’’

Lawler holds a respectable 18-6 (1NC) professional record. It took the slugger all of 50 seconds to slap Matt Lindland into unconsciousness earlier this month at “Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II.”

Fifteen of the veteran’s 18 career victories have come via knockout or TKO.

“Ruthless” will challenge middleweight champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza for his strap on January 29th. The event takes place inside the HP Pavilion in San Jose.
