Dana White Fires Brett Rogers Following Domestic Violence Arrest

Dana White Fires Brett Rogers Following Domestic Violence Arrest

Strikeforce Heavyweight Brett Rogers

Five days after releasing Nate Marquardt for failing his “UFC on Versus 4” medicals, UFC president Dana White has canned Strikeforce heavyweight Brett Rogers for allegedly attacking his wife.

“Brett Rogers has been fired, immediately,” White emphatically stated following Thursday’s UFC 132 pre-fight press conference.

At 12:35AM Wednesday morning, a neighbor called the Apple Valley, Minnesota Police Department complaining of loud screams and breaking glass. According to the official police report, an onlooker saw Rogers punching his wife in the face while she was on the ground. Another neighbor stated Rogers’ wife had blood flowing from her face and mouth.

The report said Rogers was striking her until she “blacked out.” She also had a “cauliflower ear look.”

Rogers was charged with assault in the third degree, domestic assault by strangulation, pattern of stalking conduct and endangerment of a child. All felonies.

The 265-pound heavyweight admitted to police he argued with his wife and ended up striking her, but only after she hit him first.

Rogers’ bail was set at $100,000. As of Thursday afternoon, the 31-year-old was reportedly still in jail.

After exploding onto the MMA scene with a perfect 10-0 record, Rogers went on to lose three of his next four fights. He was last seen getting submitted by Josh Barnett in the quarterfinals of Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Grand Prix earlier this month.
