Chael SonnenFormer UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida could welcome suspended middleweight contender Chael Sonnen back to the UFC in a 205-pound matchup that’s reportedly in the works for UFC 138 on October 8 in Houston, Texas, according to ESPN.

Sonnen (25-11-1) would be returning to the Octagon for the first time in over a year following his suspension for failing a drug test and pleading guilty to money laundering after nearly dethroning middleweight champ Anderson Silva in August only to be submitted in the final round to snap a three-fight win streak.

Meanwhile, Machida (17-2) is on the rise again after rebounding from back-to-back losses with the “Knockout of the Night” of UFC hall of famer Randy Couture at UFC 129 in April.

The UFC 138 fight card is likely to be headlined by featherweight champion Jose Aldo vs. Kenny Florian.
