Strikeforce announced the headliner along with middleweight champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs. Robbie Lawler, Herschel Walker vs. Scott Carson, and Roger Gracie vs. Trevor Prangley for the Showtime-televised event on Wednesday.
After a fight between Diaz and rival Jason “Mayhem” Miller failed to come together, Miller was slated to face fellow middleweight contender Tim Kennedy, but the planned rubber match is now off for unknown reasons.
Diaz (23-7) topped KJ Noons in October to defend the 170-pound title and avenge his most-recent loss from 2007 with his eighth-straight win, while Santos (18-13) scored a first-round knockout of Marius Zaromskis in his welterweight debut in June.
