While over 15,500 screaming fans packed TD Garden in Massachusetts for UFC 118 this past Saturday, one Bostonian that isn’t showing much love for Octagon entertainment is WWE superstar John Cena.
Mr. You Can’t See Me claims that life would be much grander if he never had to witness another MMA fight. Oh, and forget about him allowing his kids to ever watch such an atrocity.
“It’s just not something that particularly interests me,” the West Newbury native told Boston.com. “UFC is where boxing was years ago, and I was never really into boxing, either.”
Like they always say, opinions are like …
Cena has every right to share his thoughts as a professional athlete, ahem professional sports entertainer, but the explanation he gave as to why he’s not diggin’ Octagon action was rather ironic.
“[WWE is] regulated entertainment that’s safe for anyone to enjoy. [The UFC] can be pretty over the top, and it’s not something I’d want my children to watch,” Cena added.
I hate when people try to force something on me that I’m just not interested in (e.g. Family Guy. I know it’s hilarious, just not for me), so I would never dare turn the tables. However, the WWE is more G-Rated than professional mixed martial arts?
Anyway, here’s some good wholesome family entertainment (Courtesy of MMA’s fake fighting friends):
