James Toney, depending on your point of view, probably will not be confused with a fellow trash-talker, one Chael Sonnen. But that doesn’t stop Toney from trying.
Toney recently spoke with Fight! magazine and gave his two cents on Couture and confirmed his belief that he will beat The Natural in the Octagon.
The first order of business was Toney challenging Couture’s place in the UFC Hall of Fame and also discounting Couture’s chances in the Octagon against him on August 28, saying:
“He gets to be a hall of famer while he’s still fighting.”
“In any other sport you got to be retired five years to get in the hall of fame. C’mon man, huh? But you know what? Come August 28th, it’s over for him. He’s gonna be in with one of the best fighters he’s ever been in with, boxing or MMA. The guy’s garbage man, I can’t wait to see him.”
Toney further adds:
“Randy, this ain’t The Expendables, this is real baby.”
“This ain’t Hollywood. This is what I do for a living, I love to hurt people. I’m a real fighter. I’m the best fighter you’ve ever seen. You’ll never see another like this again because this is your last fight, period. I promise you that.”
As most already know, both meet in the ring as the co-main event of the evening at UFC 118 on Saturday, August 28 from the TD Garden in Boston, MA, with the main event being Frankie Edgar taking on B.J. Penn.
