As does happen on occasion in mixed martial arts, an untimely injury will knock out a fighter from competing at an event. It happened yet again when Julio Paulino suffered an injury and was replaced on the UFC 116 fight card by Forrest Petz; the injury suffered by Paulino is unknown as of this posting. This particualr bout will be a part of the preliminary card.
Petz returns to the UFC for the first time in three years as he went 2-3 from 2006-7, with wins over Luigi Fioravanti and Brian Gassaway; however, he has rebounded with four consecutive victories, with his most recent being over Ralph Johnson at a Moosin MMA event on May 21.
Meanwhile, Roberts signed with the UFC while going 9-0 while fighting in smaller events throughout the state of Oklahoma. He replaced Anthony Johnson at UFC on Versus 1 in March; however, he suffered a KO loss to John Howard at the event.
