I watched the season premier of Bravo’s Top Chef in DC last night and I wasn’t too impressed with what I saw. They sent the chef with the extremely long hair home. He was a character and I think it would have been fun to watch him for a few more episodes.
I think with the ending of Top Chef Masters last week, they make these guys seem less skillful. There is no doubt all of them can make good food. It is just for entertainment value, they seem to be less skillful or at least the show makes them seem that way.
After watching all the different reality shows out there, I am starting to think even Top Chef has a predetermined winner. Last week I felt the same way as most of the other fans. It seemed Susur was the best chef and Marcus was undeserving. I felt that Marcus should have been eliminated much earlier for his bad dishes, but knew he would end up winning.
I will still watch this show because both my wife and I enjoy it still. Just don’t know how long that will last. I have been surprised with the winners in the last few seasons and very skeptical of they really did make the best dish or should be the top chef. Of course, without being able to taste the food myself I can only go by the edited comments from the judges. Sometimes, the judges’ statements contradict their scores. We will see.
